The city of Salerno participated in the "Guangzhou Urban Innovation Award" for the project "Sustainable Energy Now", which was selected among the fifteen finalists for the prestigious international award and was presented in Guangzhou (China), 15 to 17 November 2012. The project is available at this link. The delegation of Salerno has also given to the mayor of Guangzhou a plaque with the coat of arms of Salerno.

On 17 November 2012 a tree dedicated to Salerno at the beautiful river park in Guangzou was planted. The video of the press conference held at the City of Salerno is available at this link.

Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 11:30 am, a tree of ligustrum was planted in the gardens of M.Luciani square in front of the Teatro Verdi with a plaque as a token of friendship to the city of Guangzhou. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Mayor, Gerardo Calabrese, together with the delegation of Salerno in Guangzhou, composed by Giancarlo Savino, Gianfranco Rizzo and Vincenzo Marano.
